As you can see the flowers have mixed petals. Trying to do the landscape/ background of the hexie cottage picture. The flowers will be a mixture of colors to blend the overall picture. I, too am looking forward to the finished piece. There is approximately six hundred and sixty seven pieces for hexies and the separate insert cottage in stitchery. This will take some time. The start of the skies in the cottage picture, next week some dark blue sky. A very busy past weekend, we worked at the shop, The Wool Lady, for the quilt show in Temecula, CA.
I had a very nice time and visited with some friends from my past neighborhood. Shopped, ate pizza,and laughed, great time. More tending of the garden this weekend. Blessings, Brook

I have been busy making Autumn patterns, and the mood is set. Autumn dreams are the cozy life style it brings. Loving the colors of Fall and a breeze in the air. I am ready to knit the tiny mittens, that I sell this time of year. At night , I look forward to a good read. Just today, my wonderful next door neighbors loaned me a book " The Harvey Girls" by Lesley Poling-Kempes. It is about women who opened the west. " Everything Flowers" Quilts from the garden, by Jean and Valori Wells. Copyright 1996 page 54 called "Country Garden". This is a pattern, I fell in love with so long ago. Now is the time to enjoy the journey. There are 667 - 1 1/2 inch squares of fabric, the finished size is 18 x 22 inches. I am elated to have started, long over due. Thank You, to Karen, for doing One Flower Wednesdays or I would still be dreaming not doing. The picture is from the book and the other picture is some hexies and a quarter to show the size.

Actually the entire flower could be better, I know with practice they should improve.

It looks so easy, ladies you have my respect. I was so frustrated. I watched the tutorials. They were excellent. My big mistake was having hexie plastic templates. Need I say Slippery. I put together the outer ring then the center. Outside went ok, inside ok until last side , as you can see corners are round, not fitting properly. Next time I will use paper. Any other advice please tell me. I have always wanted to do this pattern, but this one will not be in the quilt. Hope next week to improve. I am a stubborn old lady and will not give up to difficult. The One Flower Wednesday is a brillant idea and looking forward to progress in the garden. Blessings Brook

I have been in my new town and home for one year and three months.The days have flown and time runs faster each day. I have a love for gardening to get lost in the soil and the peace from nature. My intention for 2011 was to post every week. Life had a different plan, with two eye surgeries, my daily routine had changes and turns. As health permitted, I have worked on my new pattern designs. Thankful For Maggie

Thankfulness comes in many ways. I rescued Maggie from the pound, twelve years ago.

Maggie was a gift to me. She was easy going ,warm, sweet and never trouble. She blended right in with the other cats and dogs and seemed to always enjoy the mix in our home. We all miss her and her quiet manner. I am Thankful for her company and her trust in me.

My new home has given me a yard palette of rock and cement. I have rejoiced at each plant my son ( the new gardener ) has planted for me. This is one of the great rewards of Senior years. I still get to choose the plants and where oh, where do I want them?? Having a wonderful son oops, gardener the days of digging the holes are in the past. Yeah! It Is Time

It is time to get back to Blogland, I have been absent due to a new town, new home, new studio,new weather, T.V. channels, Medical Doctors and shopping centers. This has been my life for the last few months, CHAOS. Chaos was a simple word, there are many words to describe this venture. It had many emotions from this Seventy year old Senior and still emotional. Through all this, I did visit many of your Blogs. That is how I kept sane, relaxed and took deep breaths. In the home I left behind, I truly missed my gardens. They were so peaceful and brought me hands on pleasure. I knew the first thing to do was plant, create a blissful place, and let roots take hold before Winter season.

I, too, need to place roots and will share the adventure in future blogs. I, generally have my blogs different the pictures and writings, but this is a time that calls for the same clarity. This is where I am, still in sunny California. Please return and visit me soon. Enjoy your Summer.

This is one of my favorite quilts, a whole cloth style, love the floral design and colors, so fortyish.I use this quilt to cuddle on the sofa with a good book. I lean toward whole cloth quilts, as I dislike cutting the designs. My second to like is when you applique on a quilt.

A very simple quilt, wall or table, whole cloth style, I fell in love with the print. It has all the Autumn features, I appreciate. I like the feel of the fabric after it has been quilted and washed, so soft.

In 1980, I took my first painting class, and this was my first oil painting. I believe this is the perfect Season to share my effort into the art field. Wow, 29 years have come and gone, It seems like yesterday. I went to class, met many nice ladies, laughed, had paint everywhere. It was such fun. We are still warm in California, soon Autumn will arrive, waiting, waiting.....

I sign my paintings now , Brook, On this picture it was signed Sunnybrook. We had horses and our ranch was called Sunnybrook Trail Winds, so when the teacher told us to sign our painting, I felt silly at the time signing my name on it, so I put the ranch name. Youth, what was I thinking?? Hope to return to painting on my holiday vacation.
