A Blessed Season To My Hexie Friends

A Blessed Season To All,  I took some larger hexies and placed them in the shape of a wreath.  No sewing, not sure what I am going to be making with these particular hexies.  Busy time of year making gifts, so my cottage project is in the basket. Till we meet in the New Year. Blessings, Brook

Wednesday Hexies for the Cottage

As you can see the flowers have mixed petals.  Trying to do the landscape/ background of the hexie cottage picture. The flowers will be a mixture of colors to blend the overall picture. I, too am looking forward to the finished piece.  There is approximately six hundred and sixty seven pieces for hexies and the separate insert cottage in stitchery.  This will take some time.  I make the hexies during  night time television.   Have a good week until next Wednesday,  Blessings,  Brook

Wednesday Hexies

I did some more hexies, now I will start to connect them. A first time, if you have not been to my blog before stroll down a few pictures and you will see the quilt picture. It has a cottage among the hexies that make up the landscape. There are many hexies, this will take some time, but I really like this project. Have a great week. Blessings, Brook

Autumn Waiting

I have been busy making Autumn patterns, and the mood is set.  Autumn dreams are the cozy life style it brings. Loving the colors of Fall and a breeze in the air.  I am ready to knit the tiny mittens, that I sell this time of year.  At night , I look forward to a good read.  Just today, my wonderful next door neighbors loaned me a book  " The Harvey Girls" by Lesley Poling-Kempes.  It is about women who opened the west.  I am a History reader, excited to start tonight, you now know what I will be doing tonight.  My week appears to be very busy, may you have a pleasant week.    Waiting for Autumn,   Blessings,   Brook

My Hexie Journey

" Everything Flowers"  Quilts from the garden,  by Jean and Valori Wells.  Copyright 1996  page 54  called "Country Garden".  This is a  pattern, I fell in love with so long ago. Now is the time to enjoy the journey.  There are 667 - 1 1/2 inch squares of fabric, the finished size is 18 x 22 inches.  I am elated to have started, long over due. Thank You, to Karen, for doing One Flower Wednesdays or I would still be dreaming not doing.  The picture is from the book and the other picture is some hexies and a quarter to show the size.

                                                                           Blessings  Brook

Thank You

Thank You to all the ladies who took the time to leave a comment.  This time I used a paper template.  First I sewed  each petal to the center flower then the sides.  It went real smooth, fun and Hooray!!  Brook

First Flower Garden

Here is the First Flower Garden, You can see the center is incorrect on two corners.
Actually the entire flower could be better, I know with practice they should improve.

Please give advice , comments welcomed. Brook

First Flower Garden

It looks so easy, ladies you have my respect. I was so frustrated. I watched the tutorials. They were excellent. My big mistake was having hexie plastic templates. Need I say Slippery. I put together the outer ring then the center. Outside went ok, inside ok until last side , as you can see corners are round, not fitting properly. Next time I will use paper. Any other advice please tell me. I have always wanted to do this pattern, but this one will not be in the quilt. Hope next week to improve. I am a stubborn old lady and will not give up to difficult. The One Flower Wednesday is a brillant idea and looking forward to progress in the garden. Blessings Brook

It's About Time.

I have been in my new town and home for one year and three months. The days have flown and time runs faster each day. I have a love for gardening to get lost in the soil and the peace from nature. My intention for 2011 was to post every week. Life had a different plan, with two eye surgeries, my daily routine had changes and turns. As health permitted, I have worked on my new pattern designs. At present, my patterns/kits are in a wonderful shop. THE WOOL LADY, located in Old Town, Temecula ,California. Have a wonderful week. Blessings , Brook
